The Norwegian Fjord Centre is the visitor and education hub for the West Norwegian Fjord landscape and Geirangerfjord World Heritage Site. The exhibitions showcase the unique fjord landscape which was granted World Heritage status by UNESCO in 2005. 19:00-22:00 The Light Art exhibition is open!
Experience the six uniquely curated works of art made for Fjord Geiranger 2022 along the characteristic waterfall walk and outside the Norwegian Fjord Centre. To get the best experience from the exhibition, we recommend you to start the Light Art walk from the centre of Geiranger HERE. At this starting point, you will find an information desk with festival information and sale of festival mugs with hot drinks. Extend and digest your experiences of art and nature together with new and old friends at different Light Art pubs! Both Havila Hotel Geiranger and Hotel Union Geiranger invite you to a pleasantly lit atmosphere throughout the evening and night. Maybe there will even be surprises…?
Friday the 4th of March
07:30 Light bath – Geiranger Camping
Are you a cold water swimmer? Maybe we can tempt you with a light bath in the World Heritage fjord of Geiranger? Winter swimming gives a real kick of joy and energy! We arrange lighting, an ice-cold fjord, heat from a fire pan and hot drinks. You should bring water shoes, swimwear, a bath towel, fresh spirit and good mood! Maybe the experience will give you a sense of mastery or euphoria? We will provide for a good atmosphere around the fire pit, so remember warm clothes!

15:00-17:50 Boat from Ålesund to Geiranger
Leave the car and travel the fjord way to and from the festival! We collaborate with Geiranger Fjordservice on a pleasant fjord cruise to the World Heritage village on Friday
with return on Sunday, so you can lean back and enjoy the fjord landscape’s beautiful surroundings. Find more information HERE. Geiranger Fjordservice also offers package deals in cooperation with different hotels in Geiranger.

Merete Myklebust from Meretes Garden welcomes you to an evocative session of light yoga at the Norwegian Fjord Centre. She will lead a calm yoga session with softening exercises, delicious stretch, and relaxation. Enjoy a magical and peaceful moment together, surrounded by candlelights. The session is free for everyone who buys the Fjord Geiranger festival mug, NOK 100 for other participants. Registration to booking@fjordsenter.com. NOTE: Limited space – first come, first served.

14:00 Concert in Geiranger church
Carolin Eide – piano and harpsichord, Evgenii Zhukov – flute, Øyvind Skatvedt Robak – violin.
Join in the baroque dance! This concert offers a journey back to the 18th century and a playful interaction between flute, violin, harpsichord, and organ. After critically acclaimed concerts in 2021, it is a pleasure to present this brilliant ensemble during the Light Art festival. Tickets (NOK 200) can be purchased HERE (free for children). The concert is a collaboration with the festival Festspela in Geiranger.
16:00 Kunstnarmøte – Hotel Union
Would you like to know more about the artists in 2022 and how their individual works of art at the festival have come to be? Fjord Geiranger invites you to an informal event where you get to know the festival artists better, and where they will give us an insight into the artistic processes leading to the exhibition SPOR 2022.

12:00-15:00 Boat from Geiranger to Ålesund
Finish up your festival weekend with a fjord voyage back to Ålesund. During this weekend, Fjord Geiranger collaborates with Geiranger Fjordservice on a pleasant round trip fjord cruise to the World Heritage village. Sit back and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the fjord landscape!
