About the Geirangerfjord
World Heritage Foundation
The Geirangerfjord World Heritage Foundation is an ideal foundation with three main purposes; to develop expertise in the protection, conservation and dissemination of the natural heritage of the West Norwegian fjord landscape, to pursue a sustainable development of the unique World Heritage area and to represent an arena for scientific research in the area.
Fjord Geiranger is a sub-project in the Smart Fjord CULTURE initiative, which will create new cultural activity during the cold months of the year. This investment may in total provide a breeding ground for new creative industries to be developed and contribute to the further development of full-time work for the existing tourism industry. The start-up of a new cluster for culture and tourism will provide opportunities for unique experiences close to culture, art, and the World Heritage nature and form a melting pot of creativity, commitment, new technology and new ideas.
